Thursday: We camped with Charlie, Carolyn Scott and Dustin plus Mike and Bonnie and their three kids. Day 1 fishing was good but there were no keepers. We sat at the fire till 1 a.m. The wind came up during the night.

On Friday, Charlie and Mike went to look at a boat. Carolyn's friend Sonya came by for a visit. Charlie Ron and I went for a short fishing trip after lunch. C & C friends, Tim and Gabe arrived with their trailer and their son Dan and his friend Tyler.

Phyllis and Larry came out on Saturday and slept on our hide-a-bed. (Their dog Cara slept outside.) The fish were biting good but there were no keepers.

We headed back to Drayton for Sunday supper. The City Campground was full so we parked at Charlie's for the night. We blew a trailer tire on our way back from Buck lake, so we had to buy a new one and have it installed Monday morning. I did two loads of wash and we finally left town about 2:30 p.m.

We left Medicine Hat at 9:30 am. Yay!! Then, 1 1/2 hours out of town we realized we'd forgotten the cell phone. Boo!!  And so it was back home again. Not a great start!

We arrived at Drayton about 5 p.m. We setup, then headed to Charlie's for chicken breast dinner. Jim and Jan and Larry drove in from Edmonton. 

On Wednesday we did some shopping and visited Vera. Charlie and Carolyn barbecued a roast that evening..

We packed up after lunch on Thursday and did a load of clothes at Carolyn's. We helped Charlie load his camper and then headed to Buck Lake. Charlie and Carolyn joined us after Carolyn was finished work.

I forgot to record this stay so I'm not sure of site, cost or even how long we stayed!!  Anyway, it was our last campout for the season. *sad face*

This is a great Provincial Park with nice private treed sites. Too bad the road into the campground was so rough! The colours in the park were absolutely gorgeous!  Fall camping at it's best.

It was 27C when we arrived but it rained through the night and was cool on Thursday. We hiked about and enjoyed the 11 km biking trail which is part of the Trans Canada Trail.

This is a really nice campgrounds with very private sites. We went to Darryl and Deanne's on Monday evening. 

On Tuesday morning I went for a visit at McClure Church. Ron went to Rotary and visited Bioriginal. We dropped in to see Ed Pek before heading home on Wednesday.

Newell Lake, AB

It rained most of the way to the campground and it remained windy and cool.  This is a very nice Campground with plenty of sites. It is very busy during the camping season, however.

Saturday was decent until a plow wind came up and whipped through the campground around 9:30 p.m. as we were sitting around the fire. We had to roll up the canopy in a hurry. There was at least one tree blown down in the park. We were home for lunch on Sunday.

Gull Lake, AB

We had a very nice site with a great view to the lake. It was quite a hike to the beach area down below us however. This campground is mostly used by permanent units. Probably wouldn't return to this Campground.

Drayton Valley, AB

Spacious private sites. Water fill before parking. Gates locked 11 pm.

Pigeon Lake, AB

There were a lot of complaints about the cleanliness of the washrooms. We were lucky we didn't have to use them. Jim and Janet came out on Saturday evening for a visit. Larry and Phyllis also came and stayed with us for the night. Monday night was very quiet with only three units left on the front row.

Rocky Mountain House, AB

This is a 9 hole golf course and driving range with camping on site.  The Campground has nice well grassed sites. We toured about town and made use of the town laundromat. There is a nice Co-op available for shopping.
