Cold Lake M.D Campground
Site #20 - $15 (x5) p only, free firewood, coin showers

We arrived Thursday and set up camp in this nice community campground. Cam, Sandra and friends had been here before for previous Air Show festivities.  We had a large pull through site, but there was a pretty strong breeze coming off the lake so it was a little on the cool side. 

The rest of the gang arrived on Friday - Sandra and Cam Graham, Dick and Jill Bassil, Murray (Dick's cousin) and Nonie Robertson, and Larry and Shirley Phillips.

We had a great time with them all. Played bocci ball, visited, shared a few meals and had nightly campfires.

We went to the open house at the air base and on Monday. Really enjoyed the displays and watched the takeoffs, maneuvers and landings of all the military jets. 

It was rainy and cold on Sunday night so we played cards and visited with Cam and Sandra. We left Cold Lake on Tuesday morning.

Boyle, AB

Long Lake Provincial Park

Site # 9A - $20 (x2) p only, buy wood

This is a really nice Park and Lake. We had a great site on the lake. We went for a bike ride and fished off the shore. 

Once again we had a problem with Robin seeing himself and 'attacking or flying in to the windows. Thump thump thump!

The showers are a long way from the campground so we opted to shower in the fifth wheel.

Devon, AB

Lions Park Campground

Area A - $22 p/w/s, wood cost

We camped in one corner of a group campsite, but we were the only ones there. This is a beautiful campground on the river. 

We went for groceries at Extra Foods and then drove in to Edmonton to watch Rhonda's double header ball game. The weather at 20C, was a a bit cool, but perfect for a ball game.

Drayton Valley, AB

There was a ball tournament in attached Lions Park ball fields on the weekend so it was a little bit noisier than usual in the campground.

On Friday we had burgers at Carolyn and Charlie's and then we all came back for a fire back at the campground.

Saturday we met Larry and Phyllis at Pigeon Lake and we fished from noon till 7:30 p.m. We cooked some pork ribs for supper and had a backyard fire at Charlie's.

Phyllis and Larry left on Sunday at 11 a.m. We went fishing with Charlie on the river until 3:30. Jim and Janet came for a pike supper and we had birthday cake for Janet.  It rained through the night.

We left Monday morning for Devon.

Site #B26 - $20.33, p/w, wood cost and pay showers

This park is just outside the National Park area so that you don't have to pay the Park fees. It is a decent stop over although Ron complained of unlevel sites that were sloped down and required much front raise.  We hadn't planned to unhook, so not an easy level process!

The trees were quite abit behind the rest of the province indicating that there hasn't been much spring like weather in the area, however it was about 20C when we arrived and quite pleasant.  We were able to have an evening campfire.

Site #72 - $25 p/w/s, wood cost, no cell

This campground was very overgrown with grass and dandelions that were in seed, however, it is a very private spot and away from highway noise. It is on a nice little lake with lots of lily pads and large turtles live here. Maybe the long grass wasn't the norm?  I believe there had been much rain prior to our arrival

We drove up the mountain to the Wells Grey Park area and to the Helmcken Falls.  These Falls are supposedly three times longer than Niagara Falls (143 meters) and fourth largest in Canada. It is a beautiful park with some great views and nice walking trails.

Back at the campground, we enjoyed an evening campfire but it rained through the night.

Kamloops /Savana, BC

Juniper Beach Provincial Park

$17. p/w, firepits but no wood, no cell service

This Campground is located on the Thompson Lake. It is one of only about two provincial sites that has any hookups. I think mainly due to the hot summer temps in this area. The unfortunate part is it is located between to railroad tracks. The one track is across the river - at Ron's back in this pic.

The temperature was fairly warm - again, this is the Kamloops "desert area". It is a decent stop over place and we'd consider coming here again. The trains didn't use whistles and we found they never really disturbed us with our windows shut and the fan turned on overnight.

Fort Langley, BC

Site #Q5 - $22 p/w/s (x4)

We arrived at the campground about 4 p.m. on Friday after spending the morning and having lunch with Uncle Walter.

Richard arrived with his trailer shortly after we set up. Shannon and Matt came for an evening fire.

On Saturday we went for a ferry ride and a bike tour through the town. Walter and "obnoxious Bob" came for supper and spent the evening. Our neighboring campers, Karen and sister and their friends visited back and forth with us.

On Sunday, Todd and Kathy came for the afternoon. Kari, Dave and the kids, Walter and Jean, and Bob and Ruth came for supper.  They all left fairly early in the evening.

On Monday Kari, David and the kids came out for the afternoon. We walked around the townsite and stopped for ice cream. Richard and Janice packed up their trailer and headed home late afternoon. We had a quiet evening for two and left the campground Tues a.m.

Vancouver, BC

We left our trailer in storage at the Fort Langley Campground for $5 a night.

Site #18 - $17 p/w/s (x3)

Doug and Ryley came out on Friday evening. Remy and Rina had gone to see a show.

On Saturday, we went for a bike ride with the kids and spent time in the park along the bike path. Rina's parents arrived about 4 p.m. and we barbecue burgers at Dougs.

Back home Grandpa and Ryley got busy building a "boyd house".  We had quite a chuckle before we realized it was a BIRD house that Ryley wanted to build!

On Sunday Remy had her first communion. It was great that we could be there for this. We went back to the campsite after church but headed back to Doug's for the evening.

We were back on the road on Monday morning.
