We arrived about 4:30. It was so hot that we actually turned the air conditioning on. 

We sat out for a beer before our lasagna supper. We went for a walk through the campground area and sat out in the evening. 

There was a late rain shower which cooled things off somewhat, but we still had the fan on all night. And it was back on the road by 9:30 a.m.

Kananaskis area, AB

This is a great little Campground although it is a little pricey. We were only able to book two nights when we arrived as all the sites were reserved for Saturday night. 

We went on a bike ride through the park. It started to cloud up about 4:30 p.m, but we were still able to be outside and have a fire.

We rode along the bike path towards Wedge Lake. It was mostly uphill, so I turned around early and went the other direction for a bit. I saw a female moose in the bushes along the path. I didn't realise this until after I went by as I first thought it was just a large deer. And guess what? It is that dangerous time of year to cross paths with a moose as it is calving season!

On Friday we drove to the lake area our their bikes on the back of the truck.  We ended up not going for a bike ride it was too hilly. We stopped at the dam and and then had an ice cream before heading home.  We road about the campground again.

Site D15 - $28. p only

We were lucky that there was a cancellation and we were able to move on Saturday. Unfortunately, it rained on and off during the day.  We did bike ride to the golf course and around the campground. 

On Sunday, Ron did his us'camp crawl' and turned and ended up finding a gazebo at the garbage bins. He spent over an hour dismantling it but ended up bringing it home -- complete with the bag, tarp, poles and tie downs.  (Note: Larry was the eventual recipient of this 'gift'!)  

Ron was also able to collect enough wood for a evening fire!

We left for home on Monday about 10 a.m. The temperature back home??? ~ 27C !! NICE!

This is a great little spot on the Sinclair Creek. Some spots are a bit Shady. We really enjoyed the soothing sounds of the Rapids directly behind us. So relaxing!

We drove through the area and we found Marcy's old cabin. In the evening we sat around the campfire.  And we had a visitor stop by.

On Tuesday we checked out Redstreak National Pk and Dry Gulch Provincial Park. We headed to the hot springs for the afternoon.

On Thursday morning, we hit the road once again.

Castlegar, BC

Kootenay River Kamp & RV Park
$25 - p/w/s

This Campground was built on a site that was formerly a drive-in. The screen and projector room were still standing. The campground was mainly filled with permanent workers working on the dam.

We went for a bit of a walk along the Kootenay River and through the modular home area of the campground.

We spent the evening watching a movie.

Osoyoos, BC

We arrived at the park at 2:15 p.m. Such a gorgeous day.  We headed to the lake with our floaties.  Perfection!

We went for a short tour about the town after supper. It wasn't long before the campground started filling up.  The beginnings of a busy weekend.

On Friday the temperature was 28C. It was back to the lake again with our floaties.  Later we picked up a few groceries. It was a gorgeous evening and we sat out around the propane fire pit. (no open fires allowed)



Kari and Gerry arrived on Saturday. I think they brought the rain. There were some breaks. We spent our evenings separate. 

We had a fire at our campsite while Kari and Gerry spent the evening at the condo they'd rented. There were cops and security around the campground and there were some evictions that evening. We didn't hear much from inside our 5th wheel but it sounds like quite a party!

On Sunday we spent the day in the lake and hiking on the trails. It started raining about supper time so we went up to the condo for the evening. It was a little noisy in the campground once again.

On Monday everyone went to the amusement park except me. I stayed back at the RV. I made a pasta salad and just enjoy the quiet and some reading. Once again we spent our evenings separate.

Kari and Gerry left on Tuesday after a bacon and egg breakfast Ron and I went for a bike ride and some walks. Ron started a conversation with our neighbour.  It turned out he (Frank) was from the Fraser River Fishing Lodge, the fishing lodge that Richard did guiding for.  They had four boys who were home schooled - not that we saw a lot of that going on while we were there!?  Two of the boys came for a walk with us and we saw a rattle snake along the path.

It stormed on Wed. and on Thurs we drove up to Oliver, checking out the local campgrounds.  The wind came up at supper time again.  A good reason to not park on the front rows!

Doug, Rina and the kids arrived on Friday and parked beside us with their trailer. We kept busy with fishing, swimming and hiking.

Jeff and Jen arrived on Sat. and brought their canoe.  They slept in their van.

The weather was pretty decent until mid afternoon on Sunday when it began to pour.

The gang all headed to the amusement park and rode the go-carts etc. (except Ron and I)  We said our goodbyes to them on Monday after lunch.

Surrey, BC

We arrived at 1 pm, got set up and had lunch. Ron called Kari - - Doris was there until Monday. He phoned Richard and we went there for dinner.

On Friday, we picked up a few groceries and hiked through the Tynehead park.

We drove in to Kari's for dinner. Dave joined us, but Eliz was home sick.

On Saturday, I called cousin Elaine (Wallace) Johansen and she came for a visit after lunch. It was great to catch up on her and her family.

Sunday was Mother's Day and we went to Dave and Elizabeth's for roast beef tenderloin. Kari, Gerry, Doris and all were there, plus Eliz's friends, Thelma and David.

Deb and Rene dropped by on Monday for lunch.  We had a good visit and went for a walk.  Later in the day we headed in to Vancouver and went to Jack's ball game with Dave & Eliz.



On both Tues and Wed we headed in to Kari's for the day.  On Wed. we went with Kari to Granville Island for lunch.  We picked up Jack from school and spent some time in the playground.  Back at Kari's for dinner and Gerry barbecued a salmon.  I had webcam chat's with Greg and with mom.





We pulled out of Surrey on Thursday about 9:30 am.

Lakewood, WA

This park was not as well kept as some of the other state parks. It was quite shady and in amongst many tall trees. The campsites were a little tight to get in to.

We went for a short bike ride around the small park. There was construction behind us as they were adding electrical sites.

Our neighbor joined us for cocktails. He was from Missouri and had retired from the Army in the 70s. His dog, a schnauzer, took a liking to me and ended up sitting on my lap for the evening.

We barbecued burgers and had a campfire.

We left the park after a ham and egg breakfast.

We breezed through the Border back to Surrey, BC.

Wenatchee, WA

This park is located on the banks of the Columbia River in the foothills of the Cascade mountain range. It's a very long steep drive down to the river valley. The area is in the middle of a large apple growing area -- supposedly the "Apple Capital of the World".  Anything US is always bigger and better, right?? Unfortunately, it was very windy when we arrived.

We had a short fire after supper, but it was much too windy. I made a loaf of bread and we read in the trailer.

On Tuesday, we went to the Wenatchee Walmart. Ron had to replace both bike tire tubes. I picked up some sandals, a sweater, purse plus an elastic bandage for my knee.

I finally was able to connect to the Internet at the Comfort Inn. I did my email and had a short chat with Greg.

Back home, we had lunch and went for a bike ride. We sat in the sun in our shorts. There was still a bit of a cool breeze, but we were able to have a fire in the evening

We left the park at 9:30 in the morning, stopping for lunch in Munroe.

Once again we had trouble finding a campground and ended up driving further than we'd planned.

Farragut State Pk, Bayview, Idaho

We backtracked to this park when we couldn't find anything around Coeur d'Alene. We picked up a few groceries at an IGA - - as in we replaced our damn chicken. ;)

This is a very nice park although it wasn't officially open until May 15th. The water and power were on however. There were actually quite a few campers in our "Snowberry Loop".

We barbecued chicken thighs and then went for a bike ride. A 4 km ride downhill, It was a bit of work pedalling back home.

The park is at the southern tip of Lake Pend Oreille.  It is the former site of a US Navy training base during WWII, the second largest naval training center in the world. It was built after the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbour.

The 1150 ft depth was perfect for submarine training. The lake is still used by the Navy's Acoustic Research Detachment to test large scale subs. Its significant dept gives acoustic properties similar to the ocean.  Currently, it is also a small community of floating cabins. Very cool to see!

In the evening we sat at the fire. We woke up to rain on Sunday so we drove to Coeur d'Alene for lunch and we toured about. I wasn't able to find an Internet connection.

Back home we had a short fire before supper and then we watched a movie.

We took a wrong exit in Spokane so we ended up manoeuvring about in the shopping district until we finally found the Highway 2 West exit. I hate when that happens! stressful!

Moyie Lake Prov Pk

Our first Spring trip is always much anticipated!!  We load up and we are off.  To Moyie Lake, south of Jaffray, BC.  There was no self registration set up or a Park attendant making rounds at the park. Lucky us! Free camping.  Also, did you see above??  21C.... yippee!!

The bathrooms were locked and most of the water was off although we did find one live tap.

We walked about the campground.  Very nice.  Make note to come back again!

And we had a fire with deadfall. (oops.) We did notice that our neighbor was doing the same.

We roasted sausage for supper and sat out until 11 pm.

At 9:45 a.m. we were ready to roll once again. It was not the best night sleep as it was very chilly. About 8C inside and 3C outside.

We crossed border to the US at Kingsgate, south of Yahk. And we lost our chicken, plus an orange - which I was prepared to toss. I was NOT happy about the chicken though. Damn Americans.
