The final days . . .

Another weekend has came and gone and we are still here! The weather was fabulous and we were enjoying the quiet so we paid up until Monday. (Today)

But oh yes... the weekend. 🥴 On Friday, the Campers arrived and the campsites filled up. Thankfully it was not as noisy as last weekend. Not so much thumping music. Our neighbors played some decent Mexican tunes. Quietly! It brought back memories of our Cancun holiday.

Monday was back to quiet times with only a couple of units spread through the campground. Ron continued to find enough wood to keep our fires burning.

However all good things must come to an end and after 13 nights here we will head home tomorrow. We will likely prep for winter and call this an end to the 2025 season. 😢

Survived a busy weekend!

We spent an enjoyable day at the beach on Friday. The weather has been awesome!

The weekend was much too busy for us! And this is why we have become "off season" campers! We were the grumpy old people in the campground. 

We ended up with 3 young families tenting in the group site beside us. The young ones were sweet and cute in the beginning... But the thumping loud music was not appreciated. It started up at 9 am with one of those those "little cuties" hollering over a microphone. Gah!! 😳 It was not at all cute or enjoyable. I'm not sure if the camp attendants shut them down, but it was a relief when they finally quit. We couldn't wait for the weekend to end!

Once again the majority of families were Asian. The Hanna area has certainly become a very large Filipino community!

Anyway, one of my hidden painted rocks was found and posted on FB. That always brings a smile to my face.

And Ron scored big on a load of firewood that had been left behind!! That is always a welcome bonus. 

The weather continues to look good. We will extend our stay for another 5 days or so. That will  mean a trip to the Hanna grocery this week!

More heat!

Thursday: It was back to "air conditioning and looking for shade" kind of weather. No complaints here! Well except for those frickin' flies!! 🤬

The campground was pretty quiet with only a pair of hunters camped across from us in our loop.

I'm guessing they are looking for antelope! 😉😁

The beach looks awesome! It is certainly a "prairie oasis". Our entertaiment today was a scuba diver. I don't believe any big treasures were recovered.

And it's Friday! I was up at 7:30 am today. It was a bit of a sleep in for me. It is very strange to go from 30C daytime to 10C at nights with a heater required! It is nice and cozy for my morning Wordle and coffee!

A few more campers have arrived. We now have a next door neighbour. 

And it looks like our hunters got lucky and are butchering this morning.

Changes

Prairie Oasis Park

Site #35 - $35 (x13) p/w 

There were a couple of quick changes for us today. First, a campground change and second, a weather change!

We packed up and made the 45 minute drive to Prairie Oasis, South of Hanna. It was a hot 26C while we were setting up at 11 am. Thankfully it only takes us about 20 minutes! And we look like we've been settled for days!

After lunch I managed a quick bike round and then . . . weather change. The heat gave way to cloud, wind and some light rain. This is us keeping warm and dry! A BIG change from earlier!

However, as they say on the prairies "if you don't like the weather, wait a minute!" It wasn't long until the sun peeked out and the bunny hugs came off. Ron did his usual 'campsite snoop-about' looking for treasures and I managed another bike ride and walk about to hide some of my painted rocks.

We sat out until 8 pm but opted not to have an campfire. (Still a few sprinkles in the air.) We are looking forward to warm dry weather tomorrow! (and hopefully no wind!!)

Day 5 already!

We've had some lazy but very enjoyable days with the weather in the high 20's. I have definitely enjoyed some good sleeps!

There were a few tenters that came for the weekend and spent their days fishing. All were lined up on their chairs on the docks and all were Asian! I assume they are catching something they like! 

Obviously this crew is finding the fishing plentiful!! 

I only saw these 2 fishing "together" today! I wonder who is catching the most?

We carry on with our biking, walks and evening campfires. We went for one longer ride to the other side of the Reservoir. It is not easy to ride with someone who has to stop and check out every firepit and picnic site! 😉🤣 I did gather a few rocks for painting while waiting.

We have been treated to some spectacular sunsets and a full blood moon. 

They pretty much both looked the same. Sunset in 1st two pics, the moon is in the 3rd picture. It was redder then it appears here.

That's about all from Blood Indian. Tomorrow will be moving day.

Is it Fall??

We brought the RV home yesterday, Thursday. We had just closed up and winterized the cabin on Tues, so I was still doing laundry and unpacking our lake items. However we managed to get the RV loaded up and we left the Hat 10:15 am today - Friday - after Ron went for a much needed hair cut. It's been a busy week!! I had a poor sleep last night as I feel like I packed all night so I hope we have everything!

Blood Indian Reservoir 

Site #10 - $35 (x5) p/w wifi, poor cell

So here we are at Blood Indian Reservoir southeast of Hanna!! We are all set up! (With a great view!)

We settled in, had lunch and once again we enjoyed all the bird activity. 

After a quick drive about on our bikes, I was shocked at how few campers are here. We have heard the fishing is terrible so maybe that is the reason? It will be interesting to see what the weekend brings!?

In the meantime we will enjoy the quiet and I look forward to a good sleep tonight! 

Home Again

We are home after 12 nights in Rolling Hills. We had planned to move to Prairie Oasis on the 15th, Father's Day but due to circumstances and unknowns we stayed put. 

The weather was great the last few days and the beach was busy. This is what happens when one leaves snacks on their towels.

We were home and unpacked before the rain settled in. It is very much needed so no complaints. And that will be it for our Spring camping this year. It is now lake time.

Our thoughts and healing wishes are now focused on Kari. I love this photo memory from Darryl 

Where has the week gone??

Friday: It was nice to wake up to sunshine after a full day of rain yesterday. I spent the day indoors. A perfect day for a hand moisture treatment thanks to Sabrina!!

Ron did get out for a short walk during a rain break. He's was excited about the $5 in coins that he found. Sometimes the rain exposes cool treasures!

The activity in the park picked up considerably. A nice weekend always brings out more campers and day users. At least the campsites are well spaced here and one doesn't feel shoe-horned in. The little ones provide good entertainment.

Plus no rain and no wind meant we were able to enjoy a campfire once again.

Day 4 in the Hills

How time flies! We've enjoyed our 4 days at Rolling Hills partaking in our usual activities of biking, walking, reading, gathering and painting rocks plus one campfire. 

Unfortunately with the northern forest fires we have had smoke in the air. Plus it has been extra windy the last couple of days. Yuck. (And hence only the one campfire.) 

There is rain in the forecast for tomorrow. That should clear the smoke and hopefully will give us a break from wind!! 

We continue to enjoy all the bird activity. Besides the geese and gulls, there are cormorants, American Avocet, Sandpipers and Killdeer. The Warbling Vireo and the yellow warblers are constantly singing.

This brown Thrasher stops by for frequent visits.

We have opted to stay for 3 more nights so we will renew tomorrow.

Oh. And a cool fact. This particular campsite is a designated "Halo Supporter" site. All proceeds from this site go directly to our Halo Air Ambulance! How awesome is that!? 💕

Rolling Hills Reservoir Campground 

Site #12 - $40 (x12!)

We had a busy couple days at home. So much laundry! By Sunday that laundry was done, a few groceries were purchased, we were re-packed and we were back on the road. 

In just over an hour we were back to one of our favourite spots on the Rolling Hills Reservoir beach. Our usual campsite was taken but we are quite happy in this new to us spot.

We have paid for 4 nights, but depending on how things go we may extend that. Looking forward to some "stay put and relax" time. Cheers!!

Oh... we were introduced to this little fella while home. So cute.
