The Road to Glenn Ferry , Idaho

Sunday: Happy Thanksgiving Everyone! When we woke up this morning we weren't sure if we would be leaving or spending another night. Decided to leave. I don't think Ron liked the dinner options that were available in that Cascade grocery!

Once again a beautiful winding drive through the Idaho mountains, following the Payette River. Quite a few places offering rafting along the way. Nice country, but long upward pulls for the old Dodge.

We arrived at Boise. There are times when you should just listen to the GPS. This was one of those times we didn't. We ended up driving smack dab through the centre of this busy city, hitting every red light & I think we rubbed on some of those low hanging trees. Not the best route for RV's! The up side was that we drove right by the beautiful State Capitol building. We wouldn't have seen it otherwise!

Three Island State Park
Site #43 - $23.43, p/w, Internet cost

Monday: The Internet not available last night. We had our Thanksgiving meal at Glenn Ferry, Idaho, just northwest of Twin Falls. I was grumpy. Best laid plans, expectations too high. It didn't go exactly as planned. You know, that kind of thing.

We stopped short of our original driving goal when we saw this 'nice looking' State Park. The 'Booth Lady' said she wanted to give us a good site with a great view because we hadn't been there before. However, it was a bit tricky because they were watering. [This is desert area & watering takes place daily.] Fact was, we were given the worst site in the campground. Wide open spot, facing the entrance, where everybody is coming & going. On display, no privacy, no view. What the hell lady??!!! Half an hour later, the sprinklers were turned off & the new arrivals got those 'BEST sites'. Those ones up front, along the river... with the view. Shit! Yes, I was mad!! Those 'other people' got to see that beautiful sunset that I could see was taking place through a small break in the trees..... getting grumpier!

Okay.. rant over. We did enjoy a tour through the interpretive centre and we did a quick campground tour by bike. Got to look at all of those "nice sites with the view".

Also, we drove by the grocery store & it looked more like your corner milk & bread place. We didn't even bother to stop. I did make my stuffing and we cooked up a couple of chicken thighs that were in our freezer... Not a turkey dinner, but, a good meal & the wine helped put a smile on my face. Happy Thanksgiving :)

We left this morning. One of those 'nice sites with a view' would have enticed us to stay an extra night. Oh well, so much for best laid plans! Our 'planned' stop for tonight is Ogden, Utah.
