Mission Complete

Just when we thought our luck with the weather had run out, the sun started to shine! It had poured all night and morning, but after lunch, it was quite pleasant.

We had a laid back day (what's new!?). -- A short drive this afternoon to the Ilwaco port & shops, picked up a few groceries. and then back to the park where we drove out on the jetty. This point was "Mission Complete" for the Lewis & Clark expedition.

On Nov. 18, 1805 - 2 years after leaving St. Louis, Missouri, the explorers reached their goal of finding a route to the Pacific Ocean. And as I'm sure you've heard me brag :-) --- George Shannon, my 4th great grand uncle (!!) was the youngest of this group of 15 men! Over the past 3 years, we've been to his birth place and we've followed much of the his and the Lewis & Clark expedition to this 'end of the trail' spot... how cool is that!!

Tonight we had another campfire and then once again we were treated to a gorgeous sunset. I absolutely LOVE those beach sunsets. (and have another 60 digital pics to prove the point~!!) Tomorrow, it's off to Oregon.
