Elwha Dam RV
Site #? - $14, p/w/s, Internet, Temp 10C
We are now off the Island and in the USA. We didn't get to see much on that ferry ride as it was pretty foggy this morning. I`m glad the fog waited until morning because it was such a gorgeous evening and we SO enjoyed that harbour view last night! The `disadvantage` of that particular campspot was the early morning activity and noise :-)

Anyway, we were awake early and ready & waiting for 9 a.m. inspection. Just a few questions about where we were from & where we were going and we were okayed for boarding. Customs Agents were out and about with their dogs, but we never really saw anyone put through the big search. It was a very smooth boarding & sailing other than the fog. We bought our litre each of liquor at the ``on board duty free shop`` and on the Washington side were only asked if we had any fruit - which we didn`t - and were told to have a nice day!
Tonight we are at the Elwha Dam RV Park just out of Port Angeles, WA. After setting up, it was off to Albertson`s for groceries (oranges & fruit!) plus fuel. We just now checked online and realised that the Canada $$ rate is at $1.05 (!!) How perfect was that for timing!!
On our way home from shopping, we stopped to see the Elwha Dam that our campground was named for. Apparently this 93 year old - 108 ft. high concrete dam will be dismantled over the next 3 years at a cost of over 184 million in order to restore the salmon runs. In the past 6 years, nearly 200 dams have been removed and restored to their natural state, but this will be the largest. And so, by 2011, this dam will be history!

Tomorrow we will continue along the Washington Coast in search of warmth and sunshine :-)
